“Independence Day” stars an ensemble cast that includes Will Smith, Bill Pullman, Jeff Goldblum, Vivica Fox, Mary McDonnell, Judd Hirsch, Margaret Colin, Randy Quaid, Robert Loggia, James Rebhorn, Harvey Fierstein, and Harry Connick, Jr.
Aliens arrive on July 2, 1996, deploying multiple saucers that take position over Earth’s major cities. The aliens launch a coordinated attack, decimating several cities around the world. Humans begin their counterattack on July 3 but are unsuccessful. Facing superior weaponry and technology, humanity comes together and attacks again on July 4, Independence Day.
“Independence Day” received the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects, and the Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Composition Written for a Motion Picture. It has a positive 75% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and was rated the second-greatest summer film of the previous 20 years in a 2010 Entertainment Weekly readers poll, behind Jurassic Park.
Doors open at 6:00 PM. Dave Moreno plays a live concert at the “Mighty” Morton organ at 6:30 PM. Our master of ceremonies, Matías Bombal announces the movie at 7 PM.
Friends of the Fox offer complimentary drinks and snacks, and a tour of the theatre after the film. Donations are greatly appreciated.
The Friends of the Fox is a volunteer, non-profit organization offering a monthly classic movie experience at the Bob Hope Fox Theatre. Founded in 1995, the Friends of the Fox supported the restoration of the Theatre through significant fundraising efforts. More than 25 years later, the organization continues to promote the Theatre as an integral part of the Stockton community and the “Crown Jewel” of downtown Stockton’s revitalization efforts.

Please Note: To attend indoor events in the State of California, patrons 2 yrs. and older must provide proof of full vaccination, or a negative COVID-19 test result within 48 hours before event starts. Ages 18+ must provide valid I.D. with vaccination proof or negative COVID-19 test results. ALL unvaccinated persons must wear a mask and it is recommended vaccinated also mask up. The theatre has a no re-entry policy.
We encourage you to plan accordingly for traffic in the City, parking and long lines when entering the theatre.
Parking is located at the Coy Garage – 130 N Hunter St, Stockton, California.
